Dalzells Joins Battery Back Recycling Network
Battery Recycling Centre
Dalzell’s of Markethill are pleased to announce that we have joined the Battery Back Network of UK Battery Recycling Centres. As such we have placed several of the distinctive Battery Recycling Cans and supporting promotional material throughout our store for the benefit of our customers and the local communities convenience at large.
Battery Back Network
The Battery Back network was established in 2008 to meet forthcoming EU regulations on ‘Waste Batteries and Accumulators’. The Directive states that 25% of all Batteries must be recycled by 2012 and this should increase to 45% by 2016. The UK currently recycles less than 3% of it’s Batteries leaving more than 30,000 Tonnes of Batteries being sent to landfill each and every year!
Battery Back is a free national recovery network for all types of batteries operated by consumers in the UK. The network currently numbers at 2,000 Battery Recycling points and this is expected to grow to 60,000 by 2012.
